Forming Saints | Augustine Institute’s Impact on Catholic Education

I have always had a strong passion for Catholic education, and there was never a doubt in my mind that God was calling me to be a teacher. But when I began teaching in the Archdiocese of Denver eight years ago, I had no idea God would lead me to where I am today: principal of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.

When I began in the diocese, I started to see that contributing to Catholic education meant much more than making sure the students’ shirts were tucked in and their homework was finished.   Teachers are called to help form saints!  They are called to give the students a love for God and his Church that will stay with them as they grow up in a time of increasing moral relativism and spiritual warfare!

The more these thoughts resonated with me, the more I felt the tug to move forward in my own education at the Augustine Institute.  I had to learn more in order to give more.  I soon realized that, at the Augustine Institute, not only was I learning from the Catholic masterminds of our times, I was also making lifelong friends who urged me forward in my teaching career and became the voice of God telling me to use my gifts as a Catholic leader.

The education I received from the Augustine Institute has solidified my faith and strengthened my confidence.  The friendships I acquired at the Augustine Institute continue to be the support I need to be strong in the midst of controversy.

When I began at Lourdes last year I was confident that God would not give me anything I could not handle with His help.  Little did I know that the help He gave me would change the direction of the school and point us to classical education!  Thanks to the support of Bishop Conley, and many others across the diocese and nation, I have learned and embraced the classical approach to education as the best way to help our students become leaders in our world and saints in our Church.
